Emilio Martinez always knew he wanted to go to college, but wasn't sure where.
Emilio Martinez's older brother attended Compton Center as part of
the Regional Transfer Collaborative, which provides meetings with
counselors, workshops and field trips to guide students through the
transfer process. His brother had a great experience and went on to
transfer to the University of California at Irvine, so Emilio decided
to follow his big brother's lead.
Emilio worked with staff in the Transfer Center, and now plans to attend CSU San Jose to major in a technology-related field.
"I learned a lot from my instructors at Compton Center and the
importance of how to present myself," he said. "Through writing and
making presentations, I have gained more self-confidence and I am
prepared to continue on the university level."
